Our Mission
At SODELA, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to build a better life. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support services to refugees and immigrants, helping them navigate the challenges of resettlement while preserving their cultural heritage and dignity.
What We Do
Our programs and services are designed to address the real needs of newcomers to our community:
- Resettlement Assistance — Helping families find housing, navigate paperwork, and access essential services
- Language Support — English language classes and interpretation services
- Employment Services — Job training, resume building, and employment placement assistance
- Cultural Integration — Programs that help refugees adapt while celebrating their unique backgrounds
- Community Building — Events and activities that bring together refugees and long-time residents
Our Community Impact
Since our founding, SODELA has helped countless families establish roots in Knoxville. We’ve witnessed children who arrived speaking no English graduate from local schools, parents who’ve started their own businesses, and entire families who now call Knoxville home.
